Saurashtra University VC to take charge in extravagant ceremony


RAJKOT: Taking price as a university’s vice-chancellor has at all times been a low-key affair, sans any show-off. But Nitin Pethani, the VC-designate of Saurashtra University (SU) is all set to break this conference of a easy formality.

“It’s the SU that has planned this function and I could not refuse them. It’s more than likely first time that VC and pro-VC are taking price in combination which may be the cause of the large-scale event,” he said.

Acting registrar of SU, Ramesh Parmar, could not be reached in spite of repeated attempts. But assets in the university pegged the price of this function at nearly Rs 30 lakh.


Pro VC Vijay Desani, when requested, said, “We are taking price with the blessings of religious leaders. We have an excessively small syndicate corridor and will’t accommodate everyone. Therefore the function is being arranged in a floor. Some former VCs have additionally arranged purposes in past and it’s not a new thing.”


A former VC of SU, who did not need to be named, said, “Why is the university being used as a platform for show of strength.? This roughly lavish function for a newly appointed VC isn't appropriate. It isn't in any respect befitting the honor of a university.”

Saffron and vermilion will dominant colors on the event with the presence of local MP, MLAs and town BJP president and senior councillors who are in the list of chief guests and special guests.
