COIMBATORE: Twenty residents from Nedunchezhian Navalar Nagar near Veerapandi petitioned the collector on Monday about a factory that has been discharging foul-smelling smoke.

Smoke from the firm, which functions round the clock, is affecting the well being of 100 families living in and across the space, the residents stated. “The oil corporate has been functioning for a number of years. But it began to discharge smoke six months in the past,” stated Shobhi, a resident.

Because of continuous exposure to the smoke, the residents are experiencing breathing issue, eye inflammation, rashes, ear ache and headache, the petition stated. “We tried to way the house owners of the company a number of occasions, but they refused to satisfy us. In truth, they've greater the operations and the quantum of smoke being emitted has grown manifold,” stated the petition.

The residents appealed to the air pollution regulate board to do so and shut down the firm or make sure it follows the emission norms.
