PU plans to increase seats in 17 courses


CHANDIGARH: Panjab University, Chandigarh, is thinking about to extend seats in 17 lessons offered through 14 departments in numerous classes, including general, in-service and fully self-financed. It is also proposed to hike rate, as high as 82% in some lessons, but most effective in fully-financed and in-service classes. The resolution will be taken through a 23-member committee constituted through PU vice-chancellor Prof Raj Kumar.

In the overall category, it's proposed to extend 5 seats every in MSc offered through department of microbial generation and MSc in microbiology department. The rate, however, will remain the similar as earlier years. It is also proposed to extend 20 seats of LLM offered through University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), however, the permission from Bar Council of India is awaited, stated sources. Moreover, it is recommended to make stronger 22 seats every in MBA (retail control) and MBA (banking and insurance coverage control) offered through University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS).



It is also advisable to make stronger seats under the in-service category. Besides, the enhancement in seats under in-service category, it is also advisable to make stronger rate for positive lessons for a similar category. It is advisable to make stronger 10 seats for in-service category for the PG degree in crisis control offered through the dept of defence research and the price for those classes would increase from Rs 28,zero20 to Rs 42,000, which is a 50% increase in rate. It is advisable to make stronger 15 seats under in-service category for MA in human rights and duties and the price is advisable to extend from Rs 28,zero20 to Rs 42,000 for the in-service category candidates.


"It is also recommended that in-service seats remain unfilled, these seats will be filled in out of the waiting list of general category with the same fee structure as prescribed for in-service category. These seats will then be named as fully self-financed seats," stated a committee member.


While it is recommended to introduce two seats every under the "fully self-financed category" in MSc offered at the scientific physics department and nuclear medication, the price for MSc scientific physics is recommended to be greater through 82%. However, the price for MSc in nuclear medication is proposed to make stronger through 70% for the totally self-financed category. Four further seats basically category for BSc in University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT) is proposed, however, no rate hike is advisable for any category.
