Odisha: 30 students fall ill after taking prasad in Baripada block


BALASORE: At least 30 college scholars fell sick after consuming 'prasad' in Rangamatia primary college under Badjod gram panchayat in Baripada block of Mayurbhanj district.

The scholars within the age workforce of 5-10 years fell sick after consuming the prasad throughout the Saraswati Puja celebrations within the college on Sunday.


Harihar Parida, block training officer, said, "Out of 110 students of the school, 30 children started vomiting after taking prasad made of flattened rice, banana and jaggery."


The scholars had been taken to Krushnachadrapur executive clinic. Of them, 22 scholars had been shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Baripada on Monday after their condition became important.


Hospital assets said, "All of them are out of danger. They are suffering from food poisoning."


Meanwhile, a medical staff has been sent to the village to inspect other scholars who had taken the prasad.
