Mysuru: Asia's largest theatre fete from Feb 12

MYSURU: The Heritage City’s tryst with the level is ready to proceed in February, with Mysuru all set to host a conference on theatre as part of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav from February 12 (Tuesday). The mahotsav, Asia’s greatest theatre competition organised through the National School of Drama (NSD), will see plays through acclaimed playwrights being staged, but even so workshops and lessons, which will probably be performed through veterans in the box. Mysuru theatre repertory Rangayana is supporting the endeavour in Mysuru, which is without doubt one of the co-hosts of the competition.

Ashok Sagar Bharat, a senior faculty member at NSD, said that the three-day international seminar could be held at Rangayana from Tuesday. Prof Tripuraru Sharma, a renowned theatre artiste will probably be conducting categories on Tuesday, whilst Prof Rita Ganguly, an similarly acclaimed theatre persona and former Rangayana director B Jayashri will don the teacher’s hat at the ensuing days.

Kannada and culture minister DK Shivakumar, Mysuru district in-charge minister GT Devehowda, NSD director Prof Suresh Sharma and joint director of the Union ministry of culture Nirupama Kotru will probably be present at the inaugural rite of the mahotsav, Bharat said.

Posters of the 20th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav had been univeiled and launched through Bharat and Rangayana director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam on Thursday.
