Muzaffarpur: Gold jewellery worth Rs 5 cr looted


MUZAFFARPUR: Armed criminals looted gold jewellery worth Rs five crore and Rs 2 lakh in cash from Bhagwanpur department of a personal financial institution, Mutthoot Finance, positioned at Bhagwanpur locality under sadar police station on Wednesday noon.
According to resources, the miscreants came on two motor bikes and entered as consumers on pretext of opening up financial institution accounts ahead of committing the crime. They later fled in opposition to south path on National Highway 102 after committing the crime.

The financial institution officials have been tight- lipped over the incident. However, a buyer, provide at the crime scene narrated all the incident wishing to not be named.

Police officials didn't allow the guard and the employees at the financial institution to speak to the media. The police first got the executive admitted in a personal nursing house.


Confirming the incident, SSP Manoj Kumar mentioned that raids have been on. “We have cordoned the all exit points of the district after alerting the nearby police station soon after the incident. Most most certainly the miscreants have taken shelter in nearby puts. They will soon be arrested,” he mentioned.


The SSP added: “We are trying to get information about the incident after visiting the spot individually. We have requested the financial institution managers to rely the precise worth of jewellery and cash looted from the department.”


The SSP also claimed that initial investigation hinted about involvement of gangs of Vaishali and Chapra districts within the loot.


The loot has also uncovered the claims through police of patrolling day and night because the criminals committed the crime mere 50 meters clear of the sadar police station.
