MSEDCL engineer suspended for receiving bribe in savings account

Rupali Khobragade, deputy govt engineer of Akola Rural department has been suspended by Sanjeev Kumar, MSEDCL’s chairman-cum-managing director, for depositing the bribe in her financial savings account.

Sources in MSEDCL said that Khobragade had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor for clearing a bill of Rs 7 lakh. “Of this Rs 7,000 used to be 1% commission for clearing the bill and Rs three,000 used to be as contribution against power staff association. The contractor brought down the volume to Rs 6,000 after prolonged negotiations.
