Modi in TN: Vaiko among 400 protesters held

COIMBATORE: The Tirupur police on Sunday arrested MDMK leader Vaiko, 40 of his partymen and greater than 400 members of quite a lot of outfits when they staged demonstrations to protest Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s talk over with here.

They launched black balloons to show their protest towards the Prime Minister who arrived in Tirupur in a helicopter to take part in a public meeting and to inaugurate a slew of completed projects, together with the ultimate leg of Phase 1 of Chennai Metro Rail.

They raised slogans like “Go Back Modi” and launched black balloons. The police arrested the protesters, together with TPDK normal secretary Ku Ramakrishnan, DVK president Kolathur Mani and May 17 Movement co-ordinator Thirumurugan Gandhi.

Ramakrishnan instructed newshounds that industrial sector used to be significantly affected in the state, in particular in Coimbatore and Tirupur, due to flawed economic policy of the central govt. More than 50,000 industrial devices had been closed in the ultimate five years. Exports from Tirupur used to be going through a Rs 3,000crore loss due to the demonetisation, he added.
