Ministers fail to convince Anna to call off stir


PUNE: Social activist Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast entered the sixth day on Monday with water sources minister Girish Mahajan and minister of state for defence Subhash Bhamre failing to persuade the crusader to call off the agitation after a three-hour meeting with him in Ralegan Siddhi.

“Anna was happy with the government’s responses on some problems. But he's company on problems concerning the farmers. The ministers will now get in touch with the government and discuss a fresh proposal. It is predicted to be submitted to Anna on Tuesday,” Hazare’s assistant, Sanjay Pathade, mentioned.

Mahajan, on the other hand, told NewsTread that he was hopeful of a step forward on Tuesday.

Hazare is on an indefinite fast since January 30 to press for appointments of Lokpal and Lokayuktas and implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations for the farmers.

In Mumbai, leader minister Devendra Fadnavis mentioned many political leaders, who had up to now mocked Hazare, had been looking to reap political advantages out of his fast. “They are more inquisitive about political mileage, than Anna’s health. He must no longer fall prey to such attempts,” he mentioned.

“Our executive has fulfilled most of his demands. As far because the demands associated with the Centre are involved, we have now briefed him concerning the executive’s motion. We also gave Anna a letter from the PMO and urged him to damage his fast. Our ministers are in touch with him,” he mentioned.

In the morning, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray held a closed-door meeting with Hazare at Yadavbaba temple. Thackeray alleged that PM Narendra Modi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had taken benefit of Hazare’s Lokpal movement in 2011 to come back to energy. He mentioned, “I requested Anna to damage the short and not to put his existence at risk for the undeserving.”


The MNS leader mentioned his birthday party extended complete enhance to Hazare and urged him to struggle together. “Before coming to energy, Modi had on December 18, 2013, tweeted in favour of the Lokpal. His executive has now nearly completed its tenure at the Centre. But there is not any indication of the Lokpal’s appointment,” he added.

Water activist Rajendra Singh and environment activist Vishwambhar Chaudhari met Hazare and expressed their team spirit together with his movement. In the afternoon, at least 1,000 villagers from Ralegan Siddhi staged a protest outdoor the Ahmednagar collector’s place of job for two hours. Another group of residents staged a protest outdoor Ahmednagar MP Dilip Gandhi’s space within the night time.


Doctors getting to Hazare thrice a day mentioned he refused to provide blood samples. “We have monitored his clinical parameters and His condition is strong,” a physician mentioned.
