Lessons for Brexit from Norway's hard border with Sweden


ORJE: While many border posts in Europe have vanished, Norway's arduous border with the European Union member Sweden is obviously visible, with cameras, license-plate popularity techniques and obstacles directing site visitors to customs officials.


Technological answers being tested in Norway to digitalize customs procedures for cargo had been seized on through some in Britain with the intention to triumph over border-related issues that threaten to scuttle a divorce handle the EU.


But in the six months since an import trial began in the Norwegian border city of Orje, Customs segment leader Hakon Krogh says some issues have brought the device to a standstill. Those include snow blocking off the digital camera, Wi-Fi issues combating the border barrier from lifting and truck drivers who do not perceive which lane to make use of.
