KSOU invites applications for VC’s post

Mysuru: In a surprising and remarkable transfer, even ahead of the incumbent vice-chancellor finishing his tenure, the governor’s administrative center has invited applications for the VC’s put up at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).

Incumbent vice-chancellor D Shivalingaiah will complete his tenure of three years on March 10. According to the notification issued within the title of the special secretary to the governor, Raj Bhavan, it's been informed that academicians with over 10 years’ revel in can follow for the VC’s put up ahead of February 20.

According to sources, Shivalingaiah used to be hopeful of a 12 months’s extension. “In 2006 and 2012, the VCs were given a 12 months’s extension as in keeping with the provisions of the KSOU Act. Shivalingaiah used to be also hopeful of an extension of his tenure. But now all of sudden a notification has been issued inviting applications for the put up,” stated sources within the upper training division.

Raj Bhavan will have the overall say within the appointment of the VC. “It will be the last VC variety by the governor’s administrative center ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The festival could be very difficult,” sources added.

Several senior academicians from the University of Mysore and a minimum of two former VCs of two state universities are stated to be within the race.
