Kodi Mutt seer gets honorary doctorate from Kuvempu University


Shivamogga: Shivananda Shivayogi Rajendra Seer of Kodi Mutt in Arasikere taluk, Hassan district, recognized for predicting the future in line with ancient palm leaves, has been decided on for a honorary doctorate of the Kuvempu University, Shivamogga. It will probably be conferred on Friday at the 29th convocation.
University vice-chancellor Jogan Shankar mentioned the seer is engaged in dasoha (mass feeding) carrier beside contributing immensely to the training sector and communal harmony around the state. "Keeping all this in mind, he has been selected for the honorary doctorate. Twelve names were submitted for consideration of the university. Three names were shortlisted and sent to the governor's office. The governor approved one name," he mentioned.

NAAC director SC Sharma will ship the convocation address and better training minister GT Devegowda would be the leader guest.

The VC mentioned, "In all, 27,447 candidates will be awarded various degrees; 16,466 female students and 10,981 male students will be given degrees. Of 205 candidates who will be conferred Ph.D, 150 are male and 55 are female research scholars," he mentioned.

Also, 112 gold medals will probably be conferred; 49 women folk scholars and the remaining male.

MA (Kannada) scholar of IDSG college in Chikkamagaluru KM Netravati has gained the highest selection of gold medals (7) and a cash award too.


Appeal for more gold medals


The VC asked donors to return forward to institute more gold medals. "In other universities, a Rs 2 lakh deposit is required to institute a gold medal, but in Kuvempu University, Rs 1 lakh is enough. More donors must come forward," he mentioned.


He mentioned amongst scholars graduating in quite a lot of lessons, a majority are from the distance training centre. In all, 15,351 scholars of the distance training cellular will probably be conferred awards, whilst 12,096 regular scholars will probably be given degrees.
