KMP launched, but has no fuel stations, washrooms & FASTag lanes

The last leg of the Western Peripheral Expressway, often referred to as Kundli-Manesar-Pawal (KMP) Expressway, used to be introduced by way of the Prime Minister in November last yr. The whole 135km freeway used to be opened to the commuters in stages unfold over two years.

The 52.3km Manesar-Palwal segment used to be opened in April 2016. But there are no petrol pumps, food joints or restrooms on all of the freeway. Even the FASTag facility isn't yet operational, despite round 30,000 automobiles crossing the freeway day-to-day. In comparability, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway that used to be introduced in May 2018 has all these basic amenities from the beginning.

The plan used to be to increase the amenities after all of the parkway turned into operational. However, it's been over two months for the reason that remaining stretch between Kundli and Manesar opened to the public in mid-November, however no growth has been made on this regard. There are 4 designated sites each for petrol pumps and food plazas on the stretch and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has floated tenders for the purpose, however paintings is yet to start out on the floor stage.

The lack of basic amenities is now resulting in lesser other people opting for this freeway. Sources printed that visitors quantity has reduced since tolling used to be presented in mid-December. The reason: a majority of heavy automobiles and small automobiles have shifted to FASTags since demonetisation in November 2016. But strangely, KMP, which used to be inaugurated after that, still has not presented the provision. The queues and bother of dealing in cash is discouraging truckers to use this freeway, resources said.

Besides this, only about 50% of all of the freeway has been illuminated, increasing the danger of injuries and safety considerations during night time hours. This lack of basic amenities is disappointing taking into account that the state executive plans to construct five new towns along both sides of the parkway, comprising industrial, economic, industrial and residential spaces.

Meanwhile, HSIIDC officials said they still have a month’s time to supply all amenities. “As in step with the contract, we've got time until 4 months of the hole of the parkway to supply needful infrastructure. Around 50% of the products and services had been made avaliable on the freeway. The remaining will take a while and we're working on these in stages. While, gas stations and food plazas shall be practical by way of April, streetlights and FASTag amenities are to be equipped by way of the concessionaire. We have already requested them to paintings on it,” said a senior HSIIDC reliable.
