Kargil in agitation mode after divisional status to Ladakh

JAMMU: The determination of Governor Satya Pal Malik-led J&Okay administration granting ‘divisional status’ to the Ladakh area has put Kargil on warpath. Cutting across celebration traces, outstanding politicians from Kargil district on Saturday threatened mass agitation if the administration didn't evaluate its determination to completely post the divisional commissioner (DC) and the inspector basic of police (IGP) in Leh.

Addressing a press convention jointly convened via legislative council chairman Haji Anayat Ali, chief executive councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Feroz Khan and previous MLA Haji Asgar Ali Karbalia here on Saturday, the leaders said they had made up our minds to publish en mass resignations from all democratic institutions and take to roads in Kargil, Jammu and Delhi to press for their call for to offer Kargil its proportion of the divisional status via making sure “rotational posting of DC and IGP”.

Meanwhile, BJP MLC Chering Dorjay said that divisional status for Ladakh would spice up the area’s building. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the governor for giving Ladakh its due, while soliciting for that the nomenclature of the state be now changed to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
