Hockey legend Mukesh Kumar booked for fake caste certificate

HYDERABAD: Former India hockey captain and Arjuna Award winner N Mukesh Kumar has scored 80 objectives in 307 global suits, but a self-goal off the sphere is proving to be his nemesis.

An FIR has been registered against the former India captain for allegedly acquiring a pretend caste certificate as SC Mala from a Secunderabad tahsildar.

The FIR was once registered virtually two weeks in the past, on January 25, but has come to gentle most effective now. Mukesh's brother N Suresh Kumar too has been named. They were charged with cheating and the usage of a cast record as authentic within the FIR registered beneath the Bowenpally police station.

"We couldn't pursue the matter after registering the FIR as we were a bit busy. We are going to take necessary action against him in a couple of days," mentioned D Rajesh, SHO of Bowenpally police station.

The three-time Olympian belongs to the BC 'A' Nayee Brahmin community. Way again in 2007, the Indian Airlines vigilance department had requested the Hyderabad collector to inquire into the SC 'A' Mala certificates that each Mukesh and his brother had furnished while securing jobs with the airline.

IA officers had received a complaint that the brothers didn't belong to the SC community. An inner inquiry had concluded that Mukesh and Suresh belonged to the BC community and had fraudulently obtained the caste certificate. They sought after the Hyderabad collector to verify their finding.

Mukesh represented India in three Olympics at Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000.
