Cops still clueless in Muzaffarpur gold loot case


MUZAFFARPUR: Police are nonetheless groping at the hours of darkness on Thursday in connection with the loot of gold jewelry and money from a finance corporate even after more than 30 hours of the incident.

Six armed miscreants looted 32 kg of gold jewelry and Rs 2 lakh in money from Bhagwanpur department of Muthoot Finance underneath Sadar police station on Wednesday noon after injuring the guards and bank’s department manager. The overview of the values of looted gold jewelry was completed past due on Wednesday night and its worth went up to Rs10. 25crore as per the present marketplace worth.

SSP Manoj Kumar mentioned the overview of the stolen jewelry was completed through 1am on Thursday. “Since, the chief of the department is hospitalized after he was injured through the miscreants, it has taken more than eight hours to assess the precise quantity of loot together with the cash ,” he mentioned.

The SSP mentioned that a special operation team led through SP (town) Rakesh Kumar has been formed to crack the case and the workforce is conducting raids.


The SSP added that some jewellers of the city are underneath scanner. “We have were given some vital clues about the incident. But I cannot divulge this at this juncture as it'll impede the growth of the investigation,” the police officer mentioned.


A three-member forensic workforce reached the department and took samples of finger prints from the spot as well as electronic surveillance. Meanwhile, shoppers of the bank protested at the bank’s department on Thursday.


The SSP assured them that their belongings was safe. “Valuables of the shoppers are safe and can be returned through the bank control as per the RBI tips.”
