Contractor stopped from dropping DD for tender

CHENNAI: A contractor tried to prevent a consultant of some other contractor from shedding the call for draft of the earnest money deposit (EMD) for a young on the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Anna Nagar zonal workplace on Wednesday. The EMD is 1% of the total gentle estimate this is paid ahead of the bid is opened.
The gentle was invited to lay 3 roads in Villivakkam space under the native MLA fund for an estimated value of general Rs 54 lakh. Corporation govt engineer A Nachan had positioned the packing containers outdoor the workplace to permit bidders to drop off the DDs and other documents.

Around 11am, D Kamaraj from J C Enterprises went to drop a DD but he was allegedly stopped through some other contractor named Mani.

Mani requested Kamaraj to speak to Villivakkam constituency MLA B Ranganathan’s PA. When Kamaraj refused to take action, Mani used drive to prevent him. Kamaraj shot a video of all of the incident. Later, Kamaraj was allowed to drop the DD and he left the place.

H Chandrabose, who is the owner of J C Enterprises, informed NewsTread that his consultant had taken a video of all of the incident. The video which is with TOI, clearly displays the contractor asking Kamaraj to not drop the DD within the box.

Three tenders had been known as under the MLA fund and the work is to lay cement concrete highway.

Nachan informed NewsTread that the company had nothing to do with this as he had ensured that every one bidders may drop their DDs within the box. “We adopted all norms. Kamaraj also dropped the DD,” he mentioned.

Since a DMK legislator’s name was mentioned all over the argument between the contractors, NewsTread contacted birthday celebration president M K Stalin’s PA. However, he did not respond. DMK legislator P K Shekar Babu informed NewsTread that they would investigate the issue and then take it up with the birthday celebration head.

Corporation commissioner D Karthikeyan had earlier mentioned that depositing the EMD DDs could be made online and they had been figuring out the modalities.

Since December last year, the Greater Chennai Corporation has cancelled tenders worth Rs 185 crore for building of roads, hurricane water drains and buildings after going through allegations of gentle irregularities.
