Community policing launched in Bhubaneswar slums to prevent crimes


BHUBANESWAR: The commissionerate police here on Monday launched a community-oriented policing service in slums of the dual towns in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to curb crimes and sensitise youths in opposition to narcotics abuse. Additional leader secretary (house) Asit Kumar Tripathy inaugurated the policing service, dubbed as APOSSA Yojna (All-round promotion of sports activities in slums and young juveniles in opposition to narcotics abuse), on the presence of director general of police RP Sharma and commissioner of police Satyajit Mohanty.


Under the scheme, the commissionerate police will promote sports activities activities in slums and organise campaigns in opposition to medication abuse. Police dispensed different sports activities equipment and jerseys amongst representatives of five slums of Bhubaneswar and one from Cuttack. “It is a unique initiative to bridge the space between the folk residing in slums and the police. I am hoping the initiative makes slums crime-free,” Sharma mentioned.


Mohanty mentioned the police would ceaselessly dangle interface with other people in slums. “Our workforce will ceaselessly consult with slums, interact with other people and sensitise them to their duties to society.
