BBAU VC attacked by masked men

LUCKNOW: Officiating vicechancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) used to be injured in an attack on Monday night. He used to be going home from his camp place of job when he used to be intercepted and attacked through two masked men in South City below Aashiana police station.

VC Prof NMP Verma bicycles his way daily to home from place of job. According to SHO Aashiana Brijesh Singh, on Monday, he left place of job round eight.15pm and had infrequently travelled 500 metres when two folks with their faces coated with mufflers got here from behind and greeted him loudly announcing ‘good night, sir’.

As the VC stopped on listening to the greeting, the duo attacked him with a picket stick. Verma raised an alarm, listening to which commuters rushed to his rescue, forcing the miscreants to flee.

The SHO said that the attackers gave the look to be from the university as they knew the route taken through the VC and had been mindful that he is going home on a bicycle.

VC suffered a couple of limb accidents

BBAU proctor Ram Chandra said, “Prof SK Dwivedi, a college in BBAU, used to be passing through and took the injured VC to a close-by private medical institution from where he used to be referred to Lok Bandhu medical institution in Aashiana. He has suffered a couple of limb accidents and used to be bleeding. He used to be discharged three hours after number one treatment. A grievance against unidentified individuals has been lodged with the police.”

ASP (Cantonment) Chakresh Mishra said, “We have recorded statements of commuters and are searching for CCTV photos.”
