American airlines pilot arrested, suspected of being drunk

LONDON: Police say an American airlines pilot has been arrested at Britain's Manchester airport on suspicion of being inebriated.

The Greater Manchester police power stated on Friday that police "received a report that an airline pilot may have been under the influence of alcohol" on the airport in northwestern England on Thursday morning.

Officers arrested a 62-year-old guy on suspicion of appearing an aviation function while over the prescribed alcohol prohibit.

Police say the person, whose title used to be not released, has been bailed pending additional inquiries.

American airlines confirmed that a member of its air workforce used to be detained on the airport on Thursday.

It says the flight, AA735 to Philadelphia, used to be cancelled and passengers rebooked on different flights.

The airline says it is "fully cooperating with local law enforcement" over the incident.
