60 booked for rioting over death of pregnant woman

AGRA: The Hathras police on Thursday evening booked about 60 unidentified persons on fees of rioting, following violence that broke out after the demise of an eight-month pregnant girl and her three-year-old child in a highway accident.

The mishap reportedly befell on Wednesday evening near village Kunwarpur in Hathras, when the motive force of the bus, sporting pilgrims from Shivpuri, MP, misplaced keep an eye on while saving cattle. The bus grew to become turtle, crushing a motorcycle on which the family of Ravi Kumar was travelling.

While Ravi miraculously survived with grievous accidents, his spouse Aarti, who was 8 months pregnant, and a Three-year-old daughter, Gungi, were killed on the spot. Around 20 pilgrims who were on the bus additionally injured right through the mishap.

Following the mishap, agitated citizens of the area vandalised police vehicles and ambulance to protest in opposition to the past due arrival of the management. They additionally blocked traffic on the highway for nearly part an hour.

ASP Hathras, Siddhartha Verma informed NewsTread that a case has been registered on a complaint filed via the Ambulance driver. He said, all accused were booked beneath section 147 (riot), 149 (Every member of illegal meeting in charge of offence dedicated in prosecution of commonplace object), section 336 (Act endangering lifestyles or personal protection of others), 427 (Mischief causing injury to the volume of fifty rupees), 353 (criminal drive to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public purposes), and 341 (wrongful restraint) of IPC.

The ASP said that all accused are being known with the help of video pictures and might be arrested quickly.
