47 sovereigns gold stolen from house


COIMBATORE: Burglars decamped with 47.five sovereigns of gold adorns from a locked space at Bharathi Nagar in Podanur.
House proprietor A Simon Christopher, his spouse Shanthi Virginia and mom had left for Coonoor within the Nilgiris district on Saturday evening to satisfy their daughters, who have been learning in a private school there. They returned home on Sunday night and found the back door open and the valuables lacking.

“I opened the entrance door and entered the kitchen. As soon as I saw the back door open, I rushed to the bed room to test the steel bureaus have been the gold adorns have been stored, handiest to peer them lacking. The miscreants had forced it open,” Virginia informed TOI.


After Simon Christopher alerted them, Podanur police rushed to the spot. Assistant commissioner M Somasundaram also visited the crime scene and held inquiry with the members of the family and neighbours.


Police have formed two particular teams to nab the burglars.


“Though this can be a densely populated place, neighbours didn't notice any strangers. However, forensic mavens have lifted two fingerprints from the crime scene. There have been no CCTV cameras,” a police officer stated.
