4 foreigners held with cocaine worth Rs 39cr


MUMBAI: The police have arrested 3 Nigerian men alongwith a Brazilian woman and seized cocaine worth around Rs 39 crore from their possession,a senior reputable said on Sunday.

The accused have been about to send the drug to South Africa, police said.

A staff of Amboli police nabbed the accused from the Maurya Estate street in suburban Andheri Saturday night time and recovered drugs worth Rs 38.95 crore, the reputable said.

The accused have been known as Neras Pokhogo (35), Michael Hop (29), Simon Agobata (32), all Nigerians; and Karle Ires (41), a lady from Brazil.

The accused have been held after they have been heading for the place of work of a courier companyto dispatch the consignment.


Additional commissioner of police Manoj Kumar Sharma said the accused hid narcotic drugs in rings and pipes of curtains. These drug-loaded consignments of curtains would be then despatched abroad via courier corporations.


The police have been probing whether courier company officers have been acutely aware of this racket, Sharma added.


The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. A neighborhood courtroom remanded them in seven-day police custody.


A police reputable said that Pokhogo was once already facing a drug case in neighbouring Thane, while Ires, the Brazilian nationwide, had pop out of prison lately after serving a prison term in an NDPS case.
