Suspected serial killer nabbed in Kumbh mela


ALLAHABAD: The police on Friday arrested a suspected serial killer loitering in Kumbh mela and recovered a blood stained awl, a sharp-edged weapon, a stick and Rs 650 from his possession.

Police claimed the suspect, Kalua Patel alias Sai Baba alias Subhash, 38, was once mentally disturbed and has confessed to having killed as many as 10 other people since last year. He is a resident of Lalapur house of the district.

Kalua reportedly told police that he used to kill people who taunted him over his saggy seems to be and situation.


SSP (Allahabad) Nitin Tiwari mentioned, “We had been on the lookout for a suspected serial killer in connection with a minimum of 10 other people within the town all over the last six months under ‘Operation serial killer’. During regular checking in Kumbh, a joint staff of town police and Mela police on Friday came across a person sporting an awl and a sharp-edged weapon. Upon wondering, he told the police that he had killed a minimum of 10 individuals prior to now six months.”


“He used to target labourers dozing on the roadside. The details he has supplied us match with the blind murders had been are probing. He has mentioned that he targeted the sufferers as they incessantly handed lewd comments and even misbehaved with him,” the SSP mentioned adding, “he seems to be of risky mind.”


Police claimed that Patel used to target labourers after proper monitoring of their schedule. He mostly struck in night and hit the victim’s trachea with the awl, resulting in immediate dying.


“Till now, he has confessed to killing two labourers near Durga Puja Park in Kydganj on July 4, one in Daraganj on November 27 and one near Kotha Parcha house on December 24. In 2019, he has admitted to having killed a labourer near Triveni Darshan Road on January 10 and another person out of doors Udaseen Akhara campus in Kydagnj on January 13,” mentioned police adding that his interrogation was once underway.
