Share fee statements, UT tells private schools

CHANDIGARH: UT schooling division has asked the heads of all unaided private recognised faculties to proportion comparative statements of fee for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 and 2018-19 and 2019-20. The faculties were asked to provide the same by January 31 thru “special messenger”.

The faculties were asked to furnish details under several heads, including categories, overall fee/price range and different fees paid by scholars for the year 2017-18, overall fee/price range and different fees paid throughout 2018-19 and percentage of fee hike throughout the year 2018-19 as in comparison with closing year. Under similar heads details were sought for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20.

The division has sought details under the The Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institution Act 2016, which has been prolonged to UT Chandigarh on April 13, 2018, to look if the schools have hiked more than 8% fees as it is prohibited under the ACT.

Recently, a non-public school used to be asked to refund the charges charged additional (past 8%) in 2018-19 after a father or mother complained to the cost regulatory committee about it.

However, the non-public faculties have objected to division’s transfer to punishischools for charging fees past 8%. “The Act used to be notified in April. But it used to be in November that they formally informed us and in December they start penalising faculties. All faculties make a decision and charge fees in March and April. They should center of attention on its implementation from the year 2019-20 and now not in the past year. This is bigoted,” said a non-public school requesting anonymity.
