Laxmi Hebbalkar defends son launching government work

Belagavi: Congress legislator Laxmi Hebbalkar was within the eye of controversy again, this time for allowing her son to launch govt works in her constituency — Belagavi (Rural).
Hebbalkar, who already has a running feud with the Jarkhiholi siblings within the district, on Tuesday posted an image of her son Mrinal on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram launching highway paintings in Mutaga village on Thursday. The image confirmed him poised to dig a spot with a pickaxe. It made headlines on some tv channels.

Hebbalkar defended the verdict, saying there is not anything unsuitable in Mrinal’s presence on the programme. “I had requested him to go there,” Hebbalkar said.

“There is no query of breaching protocol as Mrinal didn’t launch the paintings. He was one among the 10 native leaders who offered puja while launching the works.”

Hebbalkar claimed the native gram panchayat president introduced the paintings and later, 10 different native leaders, including Mrinal, joined in. The highway is a long-standing call for of the folks of Mutaga village and Hebbalkar were given it sanctioned underneath the MNREG scheme.

“I used to be supposed to be there, however since I used to be in Bengaluru, I had requested Mrinal to be found in Mutaga,” Laxmi Hebbalkar said.
