Karnataka: One killed as water tank collapses


MANGALURU: A person used to be killed and every other gained serious injuries after a water tank built under Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme collapsed at Ariyadka village in Puttur taluk, right here on Saturday late night time.

It is blamed that sub-standard work ended in its collapse. The Ganga Kalyana Scheme is likely one of the puppy initiatives of Karnataka executive to supply irrigation facility to the farmers.


According to police, sufferer has been known as Rama, 30, resident of Papemajalu and labored in a construction business. The injured Madhav is being handled at a non-public sanatorium in Mangaluru.


The water tank measuring five toes in height and 6 toes in diameter used to be built about 7-Eight years ago under Ganga Kalyana Scheme. From remaining four years, it used to be not used because the water pump used to be not working. Two days ago it used to be repaired. When tank used to be filled with water, the beneficiaries noticed crack that ended in water leakage. Afterwhich, they plugged the leak.


On Saturday, as there used to be Three-phase power supply, again water used to be pumped to the tank. To check whether or not there may be still leakage, the victims Rama, Madhav and two went to the spot. As they were checking the tank which used to be complete, collapsed impulsively on them. One side of the tank wall fell on Rama, killing him on the spot and Madhav gained grievous injuries.


According to police, they've booked tank engineers, contracts and others who were concerned within the construction work. A case has been registered at Puttur Rural PS.
