Karnataka Higher Education Academy empowering newly recruited teachers


DHARWAD: The Karnataka Higher Education Academy, which is temporarily housed in the Golden Jubilee auditorium complex in Karnatak University campus right here, has been quietly running towards empowering the school of presidency stage faculties.
It has been accomplishing induction programmes for newly recruited assistant professors of presidency stage faculties from across the state.

Academy director Dr S M Shivaprasad said, “The 21-day induction programme is an important process of orienting new assistant professors to the dep. and to the field of training. It supplies an exposure to educating method, pedagogy, personality construction, recent research and an insight into the curriculum.”

“The members will probably be mentored via a number of distinguished useful resource individuals of more than a few establishments from in all places India. The programme also contains participative studying techniques like presentations via the members, team discussions, role-plays and many others,” he added.

So a ways, the academy has conducted 11 induction programmes for assistant professors in physics and electronics, trade, sociology and social works, Kannada, English, economics and political science. In addition, 8 administrative and library training and 8 other programmes have also been conducted.

Experts Prof B R Mehta of IIT New Delhi, S T Lakshmikumar, Vedavati G Puranik (physics and electronics), U S Tate of USA, Geoffrey Tickell of Pennsylvania, USA (trade), R Indira, New Delhi, Binay Kumar Patanaik, IIT, Kanpur, Dr R S Deshpande, former director, ISEC, Bengaluru (economics), Sandeep Shastri, Supreme Court advocate Mohan Katarki, IPS officer Gopal Hosur and former DGP D V Guruprasad have visited the academy and interacted with the trainees.

It was once the then upper schooling minister R V Deshpande who initiated the transfer to determine the academy and it was once inaugurated on June 13, 2015. Former vice-chancellor of Karnatak University Dr S K Saidapur was once its first director and he was once adopted via Dr S M Shivaprasad, a famend scientist.

The academy also strives to advertise research, innovative practices and social responsibility in upper schooling establishments in Karnataka. “The academy also intends to habits workshops on ICT based totally educating and studying, digitization of library, e-Governance, preparing research venture proposals for submission to R and D businesses, pupil mentoring, elegance room management and so on.
