JSS to roll out distance education courses this year


Mysuru: JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) will sign up for Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) and the University of Mysore (UoM) — each based in the town — in offering online and distance education lessons.
Sources in the state higher education department, say JSS, a deemed to be college, will launch its lessons submit June this year. University government stated to begin with the college will launch distance education lessons in subjects akin to existence sciences and health center control. Various certificates lessons will also be introduced online.

B Manjunath, registrar, JSS AHER, told TOI: "Besides existence sciences subjects, the college can even offer MBA in health center control, grasp’s in public health and so forth. Later, we can include extra lessons in keeping with demand. The online certificates lessons will also be associated with existence sciences subjects. We will hang hands-on training programmes and weekend classes besides other activity for candidates who sign up.”

Manjunath stated the lessons will likely be introduced from their Ooty campus as well. "It will likely be another feather in the cap for Mysuru," he stated.

Distance education path hub


A senior legit in the higher education department stated from the former educational year (2017-18), the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accepted private universities to supply distance education lessons. Prior to that, most effective state-run universities may just soak up distance education. "The ultimate purpose of most of these projects is to increase enrolment for higher education,” the legit stated.


Meanwhile, scholars are thrilled Mysuru town has enhanced its popularity as a hub of distance education and they say it will create activity alternatives.


“Mysuru is referred to as the training town,” stated SK Punya, a student from the Vivekanandanagar. “It has the rustic's oldest institutions. More institutes will help town to regain its previous glory.”
