ICICI Bank case: CBI cites panel report, claims vindication

NEW DELHI: With the Justice B N Krishna Committee indicting Chanda Kochhar for violating laws because the CEO of ICICI Bank, CBI officers claimed that they had been “vindicated”. Agency resources mentioned they'd analyse the document during its probe.

Asserting that the committee’s document confirmed that CBI’s decision to transform its initial enquiry into an FIR was “justified”, an officer mentioned, “There was sufficient documentary proof towards Chanda Kochhar during the enquiry. Also, circumstantial proof confirmed that the bribe was paid through Videocon staff inside days of getting loan from ICICI Bank.”

CBI resources mentioned they'd start inspecting the named accused — Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar, Videocon’s Venugopal Dhoot and others — quickly to understand concerning the loans, switch of shares through Dhoot in Kochhar’s identify and many others.

Meanwhile, Kochhar in a remark mentioned she was “disillusioned, harm and stunned” through ICICI Bank’s decision to treat her resignation as a “termination for reason”. Kochhar, who was on leave from June, in spite of everything resigned in early October.
