Flower show at Glasshouse in Davanagere pulls crowds


DAVANAGERE: Over 3,000 folks have taken in the wonderful thing about the flower display being held on the newly built Glasshouse here during the last two days.
The reproduction of Sanchi Stupa measuring 25x20 sqft and made of 5 lakh flowers is the most important enchantment. Colourful arrangements of more than a few forms of greens and culmination are also being appreciated. Over 15,000 kinds of vegetation grown in pots include bonsayi vegetation too.

People from different locations of town and from neighbouring villages and the city flocked to the venue over the weekend. Mad rush used to be witnessed on the venue during evenings, and roads resulting in it were gridlocked with cars. The display will stay open for the next 8 days.

Additional funds sought


After inaugurating the flower display here on Saturday, district minister S R Srinivas stated a proposal for Rs 5 crore further grants to complete works, together with roads, close to the glasshouse which has arise on over 10acre land. Other works pertain to toilets, ingesting water facilities, permanent lighting machine, and the like.


The minister stated he's going to meet leader minister H D Kumaraswamy on January 29 to appraise him of the need for added grants.


Sitting MP G M Siddeshwar, Davanagere North MLA S A Ravindranath, MLC Abdul Jabbar, mayor Shobha Pallagatte, DC Bagadi Goutham, ZP CEO S Ashwathi, SP Chethan R, tahsildar Santhosh Kumar, horticulture department deputy director Vedamurthy T R and other elected representatives were present.
