DRI seizes 250 kg of ganja worth Rs 37L near Gaya


PATNA: Acting on a tip-off, a group of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized over 250 kg of ganja (marijuana) and arrested two persons from a mini truck near Saukala toll plaza on NH-2 at Dobhi near Gaya on Saturday.
The seized contraband is estimated to be value Rs 37.five lakh in home marketplace and around Rs 3 crore in world marketplace. “The truck used to be loaded with cauliflowers and a hollow space used to be created in the chassis of the truck to conceal the contraband,” said sources adding, “The arrested persons have been known as truck driver Parvez Khan (44), and co-driver Vijay Shankar Yadav (27), both local of Buxar district.”

The arrested duo said the contraband used to be loaded at Jeypore in Odisha. “DRI officers had gained an enter that the contraband used to be to be unloaded at Varanasi. However, after the truck used to be intercepted, it surfaced that the driver and co-driver have been urged to achieve Buxar after which look forward to further instruction,” sources said.

The truck is registered in the identify of one Raj Kumar Yadav from Jharkhand and DRI sleuths are trying to confirm if he's the real proprietor or a fake number used to be used.


One Vidya Yadav’s identify also surfaced all through interrogation of the two arrested persons. “Vidya used to be supposed to obtain the consignment and raids have been conducted at his few locations in Buxar on Sunday to nab him,” sources said adding identify of one Bholaji of Jeypore also surfaced all through interrogation.


Sources said the duo confessed to have delivered any other consignment of 300kg of ganja in Varanasi about a month back in equivalent style.


Earlier, sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had seized 10kg of opium from Digha in Patna on Janaury 21. NCB then had arrested two persons--Satpal Singh and Kulwant Singh--both local of Mansa district in Punjab for smuggling the contraband after hiding it around engine of the auto during which they have been travelling.
