Cops bust liquor den from a mutton shop


VADODARA: Officers of detection of crime branch (DCB) busted a racket of selling liquor from old city space on Sunday. Accused identified as Abdul Sajid Mohammed Suleiman Sheikh used to be stuck selling liquor from his mutton shop in Tulsiwadi space. Police mentioned they had received a tip-off about Sheikh’s unlawful liquor trade following which his shop used to be raided.


“Sheikh used to inventory Indian made overseas liquor (IMFL) on the terrace of his shop and a room within the adjoining development. We seized 984 bottles of liquor from 41 boxes price Rs1.35 lakh from the spot,” the police mentioned. Sheikh instructed the police that the liquor used to be provided to him by means of infamous bootlegger Alpu Sindhi and Harish Sindhi, each residents of Warasia.


Alpu and Harish have been booked under Prohibition Act. Alpu has been within the trade of selling liquor illegally since years. He has 23 circumstances registered in opposition to him in numerous police stations within the city and has also been detained under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) two times prior to now. Sheikh too has been booked prior to now under the Prohibition Act, assault and automobile robbery.
