Centre’s team begins ODF inspection


Nagpur: A team from the central govt’s ministry of housing and urban affairs has started inspection of town for open defecation. Inspection has been started on Sunday and will continue on Monday.

The govt had declared town unfastened from open defecation in January closing yr. To check whether or not the status is maintained or now not, the federal government has started the inspection. It is a part of Swachh Bharat Mission.


Under the scheme, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had provided toilets for 12,500 households. An amount of Rs 16,000 was given to households for development of toilets. After those works, the NMC had declared no household in the town left without toilets.


A few days in the past, the federal government’s team was also in the town for Swachh Survekshan-2019.


There are few pockets in the town the place open defecation is sustained. To mitigate those pockets, the NMC had launched fines. The NMC’s nuisance detection squad has been given duty of inspection and levying fines on the ones found defecating in open.
