5 arrested for burgling houses in Amar Colony


NEW DELHI: Five persons, including a mother-son duo, have been arrested for allegedly burgling homes in southeast Delhi's Amar Colony and within reach areas, police said on Friday. The accused have been recognized as Rahul alias Ganja (22), Monu alias Mohammad Sirajuddin (23), Kishan Yadav (22), Vijay Kumar (42) and Veena (52), they said, adding Vijay Kumar Jain (71), a jeweller, had additionally been arrested for purchasing the stolen jewelry.

According to police, Veena lived in Bhalswa Dairy and worked as a domestic assist in Amar Colony. She used to habits a recee for potential goals and go on the information to her mates.

On January 23, a lure used to be laid at Aastha Kunj park where Rahul, Monu and Yadav have been nabbed at about nine.30 pm and 3 stolen laptops have been recovered from their ownership, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

The arrests have been made when the accused persons have been going to Nehru Place to dispose laptops, he said.

Based on their information, Veena and Kumar have been arrested and different stolen pieces have been recovered from their space. Equipment used to break and enter homes have been additionally seized, he added.

"During interrogation, the accused said one Upender was the brains behind the gang. He used to accompany accused persons in his car. Currently, Upender is absconding," the DCP said.

"The accused used to recee their targeted houses. Kumar, who also drives an auto, used to bring his vehicle for ferrying gang members and transporting stolen articles," he added.

Rahul, along side his mates Monu and Yadav, used to talk over with the locked homes and with the assistance of specialised equipment used to break the house lock and enter them all through daylight, Biswal said.


Veena and Vijay used to keep an eye fixed, outdoor the house. After stealing the family articles, the accused used to escape in Kumar's car, he said.


They used to store the stolen articles at their space in Bhalswa Dairy and dispose the stolen jewelry to Vijay Kumar Jain, who runs a jewelry store named Mayur Jewellers at Daryaganj, he added.


Subsequently, Jain used to be arrested and stolen jewelry used to be recovered from him, the officer said.


Rahul is Veena's son and son-in-law of accused Vijay Kumar. Other accused persons are friends of Rahul, police said. AMP AMP IND IND
