BJP, Congress trade barbs over Rafale deal


PATNA: The Supreme Court’s “clean chit” to the Narendra Modi-led NDA executive on the Centre on the multi-billion greenback Rafale deal sparked a confrontation between the state BJP and the Congress on Friday.

State BJP president and Ujiarpur MP Nityanand Rai requested Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who had made the acquisition of Rafale fighter jets a major factor in lately concluded meeting polls in 3 states, to publicly apologise for misleading the people.


Rai also accused Gandhi of bringing down the honor of the country via wondering the Rafale deal, which also demoralised the defence forces. “The apex courtroom’s verdict has established that the central executive had no position within the number of the offset partner of the French company for the deal,” Rai stated.


However, state Congress operating president Kaukab Qadri refused to buy the arguments put ahead via Rai, announcing the Supreme Court’s judgment had vindicated the Congress demand referring to probe via the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) into the associated fee escalation of the Rafale jets.


He stated the Supreme Court, via declaring that value fixation was once a central authority subject with which it had not anything to do, had simplest vindicated the Congress’s demand for a probe into the deal via the JPC.
